who was a much-loved Dad, Grandad, Cousin, Friend and Volunteer

Dad was always the first person to be keen to give back, be that volunteering at Give Kids the World in Florida, or rattling Macmillan buckets at supermarkets in Droitwich and Redditch.

Emily and I would like to honour him by ensuring that all fundraising we do in future goes towards Primrose Hospice - a place that provided so much care and support for us during Dad's last 6 months, and that continues to support Emily and I as we navigate this new world without Dad.

Celebrating the life of David Holmes

Dad's funeral will take place at The Vale Crematorium, WR10 2QR at 1pm on Monday 29th April. Please join us there to celebrate his life and remember all the happy memories we have of his 75 years on this earth.

All family and friends are then invited to join us at Redhouse Barn, B60 4BG afterwards for food and drinks.

We would ask that dark colours are worn as we know this would be what Dad would wish. We'll hope that the colour of the day comes from blue skies and sunshine!

It will be live streamed for all our US friends, as well as any in the UK who are unable to travel.

Thoughts

Lots of fun memories in Florida with you David. Holiday dinners won't be the same without you and your crazy British accent. Watch over my Mom and keep her safe.

My heart is broken with the passing of David - my BFF these past few years. I am so fortunate to have met David as a fellow volunteer at GKTW, and we developed a special friendship over the years. So many memories of him AND his family - both in the US as well as the UK - and with him knowing my family here in the US, especially those holiday dinners we shared, crazy games (with prizes of course) afterward - David loved that !!. After many requests for me to visit his beautiful UK, he finally talked me into it in the summer of 2022, and I was so fortunate to spend many weeks there touring with my very special native tour guide; and I am saddened that what was to be an annual event ended after only two summers over there, but I am eternally grateful to David for even that. I am so glad to have met his kids, grandkids, many cousins, and to have experienced the many palaces, cathedrals, tourist scenes, trains, planes, double-decker buses. We spent much time at his home here in Florida, where he loved cooking for us, walks around the neighborhood, sunbathing, gathering “lost” golf balls at the adjoining golf course, making beaded bracelets for the kids at the Village, playing cards, watching golf and soccer on TV, and finishing the evening with the inevitable cup of ice cream !! I am grateful for having had the honor of loving David, and being loved by David. David, I will never forget you, will never forget our memories. Hopefully the sadness will ease, but right now the tears still keep coming.
